This Blog

February 21, 2009 at 9:10 pm (Uncategorized)

Recently I’ve had a few conversations with different people* about the nature of the posts on this blog.

Now I originally started this blog because a forum I was part of died.  I needed an outlet to talk about feminism and my life.  Both things, not either individually.  Since then, two other forums have popped up in place of the dead one, but neither are the replacement I need and I kind of like having this one corner of the internet to type whatever I want about whatever I want.

However, I also don’t want to be writing crap that no one else wants to read.  And it’s the posts about my personal life that have been brought up more than once by more than one person.  So, I’m asking you readers what you want from this blog?  Are there topics that are getting boring or ones you just have no particular interest in?  Posting is time consuming (sometimes) and there’s no point in me putting up posts that are boring or unread.

I hate polls**, so I’m not putting one up.  If you have an opinion on this, and I assume everyone reading has an opinion on what they like to read here, please let me know in comments or via email.  In the meantime, I’m just going to keep posting as normal.

*And truly, I have had many conversations about this with many readers, so if any of you individuals are reading this thinking “she’s writing about me”, I’m not.  Not individually anyway.  It was all the conversations combined that have led to this post, not any individual one.

**I don’t need a reason, I just hate them.

    I like the mix.

Honestly? I think you should write about whatever takes your fancy. If you try catering to what you think people want, it may turn out to be not as good a blog or something you’re unhappy with.

I enjoy the balance and think when you’re writing what strikes you at any point in time, then we are allowed to journey with you somewhat… rather than simply reading a piece of topical journalism.

And thanks for the * also – I for one appreciated it.

I think most people who would be reading a feminist blog understand how much a person’s actual experience feeds their feminism. I would keep writing about both of them, and anyway all of the readers who are here have clearly enjoyed the results of you writing about whatever you want 🙂

pt and Chally – thanks for the feedback – it’s good to know I can continue to do whatever I want 🙂

m – I figured you’d appreciate the * – or at least that I would appreciate not having to explain it later if it wasn’t added on the post.

j – very good points. that is all. 😛
